What kind of traveller are you? The go with the flow type or the more sophisticated organised traveller. Are you that person rustling around in their bag looking for their passport frantically at the check-in desk or are you that document wallet carrying perfectionist, who just swooshes it out of one of your many handbag compartments?

Well, what ever kind of traveller you are you can never fall short of sitting down and creating an itinerary for yourself and your family so that you are able to make the most of your time away and find the time to indulge in the stuff you all just love to do. Ride on a horse (tick!), eat at a local restaurant (tick!), walk along a beach (tick). Your vacation ‘to-do’ list will be your mecca of holiday dreams all rolled into one. Now now, this isn’t a strict regime that you must stick to, more of a rough draft of what you would like to see or do.

Remember, keep it simple, don’t pack too much into a single day and find some time to relax in between the activities you have scheduled in.

Colin created the ultimate itinerary for his family holiday Coffs Harbour Treetops recently. Read on for some inspiration as to how to become an itinerary genius who doesn’t miss a beat on holiday.

Day 1

Begin with a ride on a Segway at Timeout Adventures before driving to Bellingen for lunch at the Federal Hotel and visiting the Raleigh Winery overlooking the Bellinger River to enjoy a glass or two of wine (purchase some of the good stuff) and their finest cheese platter. Enjoy a feed of local seafood for dinner on the way back to the resort.

Our suggestion: Perhaps a relaxing dip in the pool before dinner wouldn’t go a miss!

Big Banana

Day 2

A visit to the world famous Big Banana is a must. Visit the theatre, enjoy a plantation tour, play a round of mini golf and down a banana smoothie or banana split while having a light lunch in the cafe. After an active morning, have a relaxing afternoon watching a movie at the local cinema. Dinner at a recommended eatery.

Our suggestion: Why not visit one of the many national parks to take in the beautiful scenery, there’s plenty to pick from!

Day 3

A gentle stroll to check out the shopping in the city centre and Promenade areas of Coffs Harbour (can’t go home without a souvenir or postcard), before having a light lunch at Mangrove Jacks on the Promenade. On the way back to the resort, visit Carobana to buy some confectionery to eat while watching a DVD during the evening after letting our hair down and having take away for dinner with a nice bottle of local wine.

Our Suggestion: Go visit the dolphins at Pet Porpoise Pool Marine Magic- what an experience and memory to keep forever!

Day 4

Begin the day with a visit to the Butterfly

House as we begin our tour of the southern beaches area, visiting Sawtell and Urunga on the way to our final destination of Nambucca Heads. Opportunity to enjoy some scenery, check out the local galleries and stop for coffee and lunch on the spur of the moment. Upon return to Coffs Harbour, dine at another recommended eatery before snuggling up in front of another DVD with a local wine (and more confectionery of course!).

Our Suggestion: Whilst visiting the Butterflies why not zip across to the North Coast Regional Botanical gardens…sensational!

Day 5

A sleep-in before going for a stroll along the local jetty and marina, stopping for lunch at one of the seafront restaurants. Our 5 day adventure would conclude with a scenic flight over the Coffs region with Precision Helicopters before returning to the resort to enjoy a relaxing drink around the pool or in the lounge with other owners and holiday makers. Pizza delivered for dinner.

Our Suggestion: I think Colin has got this covered!
