You’ve done it! After weeks of anticipation, you and your significant other have escaped the office, broken free of routine and are on your way to a well-earned holiday in beautiful Fiji!

Soon, you’ll be touching down the tropical paradise of Nadi – an oasis where you’ll really be able to rest and relax. With everything from beach access to a day spa, there’s more than enough at the resort to keep you occupied, but, if you ever feel like leaving, there are plenty of great, romantic day trips to be taken nearby.

Here are two of the best!

Garden of the Sleeping Giant

This paradise has only recently been opened to the public, but it’s quickly become one of the most popular destinations in Fiji. A horticultural wonderland dotted with peaceful ponds, walking through the garden is a bit like stepping into another world as you meander along the shaded boardwalks. Tucked away at the foot of the Sleeping Giant Mountain, this valley once housed the private collection of Hollywood star Raymond Burr, but has since been converted into a garden for the general public.

Located just over half an hour’s drive from Club Wyndham Denarau Island, the Garden of the Sleeping Giant can be easily reached via one of the frequent tour buses departing from the Denarau resort area. The trip’s undisputed highlight is the vast collection of gorgeous orchids, which are equal parts fragile and beautiful. This is one journey not to be missed for couples with green thumbs.

Sri Siva Subramaniya Swami Temple

You might have thought that to really experience the splendour, colour, and energy of a Hindu temple, you’d have to head to India. In most cases, you’d be right, but Nadi plays host to one of the most impressive examples to be found in the world – the Sri Siva Subramaniya Swami Temple.
This temple is one of the only chances couples will get to see Dravidian architecture outside of India, and, with the carvings having been shipped over to Fiji, the experience is completely authentic. Be aware that you can’t take photos inside – this is all the more reason to simply take in the experience with your partner.
